I've had the pleasure of attending many music conferences across the United States. When it comes to SmartMusic sessions, the Missouri Music Educators Association is unique. A separate room is dedicated for only SmartMusic and Finale clinics, and over the course of three days, 14 clinics are given.
One session, organized by SmartMusic clinician Ray Benton, is a panel discussion of Missouri teachers using SmartMusic. Last year, I was there for the panel discussion and was very impressed with all the valuable information that was being shared by the panelists with the attendees. I thought it would be great if the event could be recorded and shared.
At this year's Missouri conference, thanks to panel moderator Ray Benton and MakeMusic's Leigh Kallestad, the panel discussion was videotaped and all the teachers on the panel agreed to let MakeMusic share the content. We've begun to post some short (one-minute) clips at our SmartMusic YouTube Channel and more will follow.
As an example, click here to listen to what advice Ron Sikes offers to new SmartMusic users.
I am hoping this panel discussion event can be a model for other states. Teachers sharing information and learning from each other is priceless!
